- 1/2 cup softened butter
- 1 oz softened cream cheese
- 1 tbsp packed brown sugar
- 3 tbsp pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 handful walnuts or pecans optional

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325° . Take an 8x8 pan and lightly grease it or spray it with Bakers Joy. Whisk together the flour and salt, set aside. In a large bowl, with a hand mixer, blend together sugar and softened butter until crumbly. Now add the syrup, egg, and vanilla. Beat together at a low speed until smooth. Now add the flour mixture and the nuts and blend slowly, until it's all combined. Pour into your baking pan. Bake for 40 - 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let bars cool completely before frosting them
- Frosting: Cream together butter and cream cheese at a high speed. Then add your brown sugar and syrup and beat slowly until smooth. Add powdered sugar and mix at a medium speed. All a little more sugar if necessary. Spread the frosting on top of the maple bars. Cut into 12 or 16 bars. Sprinkle the top with nuts (optional)
